The 23rd Airborne Division is a modular light infantry division trained for air assault operations. The 23rd
Airborne Division fought in several major campaigns and battles including the "Strike at Karkand" in June 2005.
The division went from airplanes as the primary method of delivering troops into combat, to the use of
helicopters as the way the division entered battle. Many modern members of the 23rd are graduates of the
Army Air Assault School and wear the Air Assault Badge.

In recent years, the division has served in operation "Back to Karkand" and cities including Paris, Tehran, Sarajevo,
Sulaymaniyah, New York, Wake Island and Oman.
