The platoon is one of the smallest military unit (the smaller the team) commanded by an officer
or a non-comissioned officer, which includes more teams.

Organic Standards of the Italian Army platoon has a staff of between 21 and 50 positions. The platoon consists of a variable number of people depending on the composition of the teams. It is normally commanded by an officer (lieutenant or second lieutenant) or a marshal.

The platoon performs specific functions within the department. In the case of special weapon specialties
(engineering, artillery, transport, etc..) Aggregation of higher-level units as a support unit.
